Software Engineer Job #08-020

The Software engineer develops and maintains software tools for laboratory computational analysis of proteomics data by interacting with other software engineers and research scientists whose goal is to discover and validate candidate biomarkers in multi-disciplinary projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in software development in a team working environment. The candidate should demonstrate well disciplined software design and writing and have experience working with software that is written by others. This position provides an excellent opportunity for skilled and self-motivated software engineers who are interested in bioinformatics or computational biology fields for their future career advancement.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with bosth Linux and windows operating systems required
  • Experience in programming, debugging, object-oriented design
  • Demonstrated proficiency in C++, Java, XML, and GWT using Eclipse or IntelliJ
  • BS degree in Software engineering, Computer Science, bioinformatics, or other similar science research field preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team development environment.

Desirable

  • Experience writing software in support of research
  • Experience with Eclipse RCP and MySQL database
  • Experience in mass spectromic proteomic data
  • Experience with Bioconductor R
