Simon Letarte
Area of Expertise
Mass spectrometry
Proteomics
Current Position
Senior Research Scientist
Degree
Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry, Université de Montréal, Québec, Canada, 2003
Research Interests
Coming from a mass spectrometry background, Simon likes to create robust platforms for biological research. His current focus is biomarker discovery using high-throughput label-free quantitation. Such a platform enables intelligent sequencing of differentially abundant peptides that can discriminate between disease states. Simon is currently studying cancer and diabetes.
He is also interested in multiple reaction monitoring (MRM), a targeted MS technique that enables a higher sensitivity and dynamic range by looking only at certain pairs of precursors-fragments.
