Current Position
Senior Research Scientist

Degree
MD, University of Lausanne, Switzerland 1995

Research Interests
After completing his clinical board in infectious diseases at the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland, Dr. Pierre-Yves Bochud joined Dr. Alan Aderem's laboratory at the Institute for Systems Biology in 2001 to explore the immunogenetics of infectious diseases. His goal is to detect genetic markers that are associated with increased risk for infection. This issue is be particularly relevant for immunocompromised patients, such as those with HIV infection or those undergoing transplantation. Patients are at higher risk for specific pathogens may benefit from personalized and preventive measures, such as individualized surveillance, antimicrobial prophylaxis and/or specific vaccination programs.
