Viral Video: Spanish, French or Code?

ISB was founded on the belief that it takes cross-disciplinary teams of scientists in order to tackle the biggest challenges in biology. When Hadi Partovi, cofounder of Code.org, reached out to us for a comment about the importance of computer science, it was without hesitation that we shared the following quote from ISB president, Dr. Lee Hood. The video was produced by Code.org and has made the rounds this week. It impresses upon viewers that anyone can learn to code and the future will depend on more people knowing or at least understanding how code works.

“To deal with the ‘deluge of big data’ requires the pioneering of new analytical tools, both computational and mathematical. Computer scientists have become essential as part of cross-disciplinary teams of researchers who tackle some of the most challenging issues in science today.”

— Dr. Lee Hood
