Internship Programs

Pre-College and Undergraduate Students

ISB currently hosts two established internship programs for students:

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

One of the key objectives of ISB involves transferring knowledge gained through research to the community for the benefit of society. The Baliga Lab meets and surpasses that objective through an education program in which high school interns help develop hands on instructional modules for students to use as part of their science curriculum. Each January, the Baliga Lab posts a job opportunity on their careers website, enabling high school juniors to apply for a competitive, paid summer internship.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Our Summer Undergraduate Research Experiences Program offers undergraduates with a diversity of backgrounds, career goals and experiences a paid opportunity to experience research side by side with experts in systems biology.

ADDITIONAL INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

ISB fields year-round requests for internships or other research experiences in which students and/or educators have identified a funding source. These requests are vetted based on the interest and experience of the potential intern as well as the availability of appropriate ISB mentors.

For more information about internships, please contact ISB’s Education Liaison, Jen Eklund.

Graduate Students

We accept graduate students through our faculty affiliations with a variety of University of Washington programs, including the ones below. We do accept graduate students through other departments, too. Please consult our faculty affiliations and contact the appropriate faculty member directly.
